The serious bit

This is a family event and NOT a drinking competition, so NO alcohol can be carried in prams, either at the start or during the race. We urge ALL racers to enjoy running the race and drink responsibly so that everyone else can enjoy the day too. Please arrange to take your pram home and dispose of it safely as there will be no facilities for prams to be left at the end of the race.

Rules for The Fastest Pram caterory

If you are mad enough to race around the course in pursuit of the coveted John Sanderson Trophy, please take particular note of the rules for The Fastest Pram category. They have been clarified since last year to make sure that racers are not benefiting from outside support to improve their times.

Each year we have a small number of complaints about people peeing in inappropriate places. We know that you have had a few and the cold air gets to you and you have to go but this is no excuse for not using the loos at the pubs and around the course. We have more loos than ever this year so please use them or risk us losing our event licence.

To make things easy, on-line payment is made through Pay-Pal. Payment on the day is in cash or by cheque made payable to 'Windlesham Pram Race'

Entering early and on-line will make registration on the morning of the race much easier and quicker. Don't worry if you add an extra runner to your team after the 20th December, you can always register and pay for them on the day.

On-line applications are now closed!

This doesn't mean that you can't race, just that you need to register and pay on the day. If you do intend to enter on the day you should allow plenty of time to complete your entry paperwork, pay and collect your wrist bands, race numbers and collecting buckets.

As always, planning for the Boxing Day Pram Race has been going on feverishly in the background so that the event goes well on the day.

Once again we shall be organising the wristbands, road closures and marshals to keep the runners and spectators safe and making sure that the pubs are open and well stocked. We need you to start coming up with your team names and to get your entries in. Oh, and you might want to dust off the dressing up box and look out your pram building gear.

Sadly, over the past few years there has been an increase in the number of teams who like to enjoy all the event has to offer but don’t want to contribute to the charity aspects by paying to enter or bothering with a collecting bucket.

There is also a temptation to over do the booze! It's too easy to let the Christmas spirit carry you away. Please drink responsibly and legally. If you're under 18 it's still illegal even if you're part of the race. The Police will take action if they see the law being broken and the License for the event will be in jeopardy.

You know who you are - so do we - please don't spoil what is a great event by failing to do your bit for local charities or by allowing your behaviour to let you down.

Yes, yes, yes! It's time to dust off your running shoes, dig out the fancy dress box and get your creative juices flowing on the design for your pram and costumes.

Preparations for the Pram Race began in July and the plans are now close to completion. For over almost 50 years this fun event has brought the whole community together and last year some 670 runners and their prams completed the course. The money raised goes to the Windlesham Pram Race charity whose sole purpose is to support local good causes.

This is a family event and not a drinking competition so NO alcohol can be carried in prams, either at the start or during the race. We urge ALL racers to enjoy running the race and drink responsibly so that everyone else can enjoy the day too.

The safety of racers and spectators is our primary concern so once again, a number of roads in the centre of the village will be closed for a time on during the race. Please avoid these roads during the event as the Police and Surrey Heath Borough Council have insisted that road closures are firmly observed.

We know that when you get to the end of the Race and you're 'tired and emotional', it is tempting to abandon your pram for others to get rid of. Please don't.

The organisers and The Club do not have the resources to dispose of abandoned prams. Please take your pram home with you.

If your pram is large and requires a vehicle to get it home, please arrange to be picked up at the junction of Hatton Hill, Westwood Road and Kennel Lane. Vehicles can access this pick up point from the A30 at all times during the race.
